Dear Friends,
WELCOME TO ACT II PLAYHOUSE, where excitement, artistry, insight, laughter, and surprise await you! And welcome to Act II’s 11th season – our second as Producing and Associate Artistic Directors.
- Thanks to you, we had a stellar first season: extended runs of Stones in His Pockets and Respect: A Musical Journey of Women; the critical and popular successes of Magnetic North and Iron Kisses, the sold-out run of The Philly Fan and Tony Braithwaite’s solo hit Look Mom, I’m Swell!.
-
You’ve asked for more larger-cast shows, and we’re thrilled to honor this request – and also thrilled to have many of Philadelphia’s finest actors on our stage in 2009-10!
-
Highlighting our upcoming season: the world premiere of Any Given Monday – the newest play by Bruce Graham (author of The Philly Fan), co-produced with Theatre Exile and featuring Genevieve Perrier, Catherine Slusar, Pete Pryor and Mr. Graham himself! We predict: this play will have a long, celebrated life beyond Act II.
-
Boeing-Boeing, the laugh-out-loud 2008 Tony winner for Best Revival, comes direct from Broadway to Act II, featuring an all-star roster of comic actors: Tony Braithwaite, Anthony Lawton, Kristy Chouiniere, Jessica DalCanton, Sarah Doherty, & Deven Walker. Next: On Golden Pond, starring veteran actors Tom McCarthy & Carla Belver, and featuring Megan Bellwoar, Tom Byrn, and Carl Granieri. Also direct from Broadway: The Story of My Life, a beautiful musical celebrating friendship; Act II favorite Tony Braithwaite plays Alvin.
-
See it here first! -Tony Braithwaite in the world premiere of his newest solo comedy, Impressions: An Historical and Hysterical Look at the American Presidency. And The Philly Fan returns, with Tom McCarthy rollercoastering through our wild and crazy sports history...and maybe celebrating another Phillies win?!
Whether you are a longtime subscriber or a newcomer to Act II, we promise to deliver world class theatre in our intimate venue, and honor you with the welcoming, personal service that makes coming to the Playhouse so effortless and enjoyable.
PLEASE JOIN US and be part of Act II’s best season yet!
